About Us

DEOSC is deeply rooted in Dominica, supporting our vibrant communities and producing the purest botanical products.

Made in Dominica, Home of the West Indian Bay Tree

The West Indian Bay tree (Pimenta racemosa) has a special place on the natural island of Dominica. Known as Bwa Den in the local Créole, Bay trees have been used by Caribbean peoples for centuries and have many important, healing properties. Then and now, the finest Bay tree botanicals are uniquely nourished by the rich environment and history of Dominica.

We formed DEOSC in 1964 to support small, independent growers in Dominica, strengthen our vibrant communities, and produce the highest quality, purest botanical products. Since then, DEOSC has distilled the unique essence of the island into products made from our special Bay trees.

However, our mission extends beyond the production of the finest essential oils. We aim to make a meaningful impact on the Dominica community, the essential oil industry, and people around the world. Our goals are to alleviate poverty, safeguard the environment, bolster economic stability, and lead the diversification of the essential oils sector. We achieve this by maintaining steadfast standards for sustainability and quality to distill and export exceptional heritage essential oils, spices, and their derivatives.

Know Our Island

DEOSC botanicals are made 100% on-island in Dominica. Known as the ‘Nature Isle’ of the Caribbean, Dominica is a well-preserved island with lush greenery across 750 square kilometers. Natural wonders include the West Indian Bay Tree, which bears the special leaves used for Bay Oil and Bay Rum, as well as breathtaking rivers and mountains. Here, over 200 rivers and the tallest peak in the Lesser Antilles serve as a stunning backdrop for Dominica’s largest industry, agriculture, and the community-based production of essential oils, spices, and their derivatives.
